Starting with last weekend, I started gathering and prepping my supplies. Pressure treated wood and fasteners, then cutting, routing, and stacking. The wood then got to relax and dry out for a week as I made plans for assembly.
My awesome brother from Buffalo volunteered to come to Rochester to help put it together! We started at around 10, and by 3:00 we had the structure assembled. After some time leveling the whole thing, we moved on to the deck support boards and deck. This went pretty well despite some missteps using the chalk line. We next moved on to railings for the side and back. At this point we decided to wrap it up for the day.
The weather actually mostly cooperated except for the rain from noon until 4, when some of the assembly had to be done in the garage. We had to don ponchos for some of the outdoor work. All in all, it was a productive day and we're all pleased with the progress.
Next weekend should be final assembly and prototyping the swings and slide and sandbox.
After that comes the nonstop fun that a play set in one's yard will bring!
